uThukela District Economic Growth and Development Summit
Introduction to Summit Summary
As core for approaching and accomplishing the MAP / Project for the South African National Development Plan, COGTA has realized it obligatory to carry out, at National Level, Economic Growth and Development Summits that will align Local Districts with Vision 2030.
The uThukela District has been mandated to host an Economic Growth and Development Summit as a program of action towards Economic Growth and Development within the respected uThukela District Municipalities.
This event will be bringing together representatives with the intention of addressing and identifying Key District Priorities and discussing the Elimination and Integration of Economic gaps between Local Municipalities and Ward Committees , Counselors and Officials , Local Business Chambers, Organised Businesses, Local Forums, Local Traditional Houses and the Community Groups at large.
The Summit will look at the following key economic sectors of The District such as:
- Agriculture
- Tourism
- Manufacturing
- Freight and Logistics
The Summit will also be a platform for untapped developing sectors such as Telecommunication and the District evolving as a Linking Corridor for other Provinces such as Gauteng, Bloemfontein and The Freestate

The PGDC states the Provincial Priorities include:
- Job Creation
- Education
- Health
- Rural Development , Food Security and Land reform
- Fighting Crime and Corruption
- National Building and Good Governance
These factors surrounding these will be detailed and approached with determination.
The resolutions concluded upon shall form part of the guidelines and considerations for the Districts Decision and Implementation Process.
